Planning a holiday in Bali that’s child friendly? Check out Canggu! Although it’s quite a long flight from Amsterdam, once you’re there you completely forget all the hassle. The atmosphere on the island is so relaxed, especially if you go a little further up north from Seminyak. It was the first intercontinental holiday we had while having children. We have been in Bali before and because the food, the people and surroundings are so great we wanted to go back. It took me a month to find the perfect location, but finally I found Villa Komea, which is close to perfection. The 7 villa’s are just outside Seminyak, but there’s a shuttle service that will bring you everywhere in the neighborhood. Especially with little kids that’s a great service as the streets have no sidewalks. Next to that all the villas have their own private pool, garden and outdoor bathroom. Breakfast is served every morning in your own villa and for parents in-room spa treatments can be arranged.

For food & activities there is a lot available, but Kakilima is the place to be if you want to spend a relaxing Sunday afternoon before returning to the next day’s routines. The joint is also child friendly, as there are plenty of toys and even a trampoline for the little ones to jump around on. In addition, the green lawn is also spacious for frisbee games. Good food, a great view and an even better vibe, need we say more?

What we love in Canggu:

  • It’s away from the crowds of southern Bali and offers a secluded and authentic experience
  • The Villas from Villa Komea have their own private pool (which have a fence on request to keep it child proof) and outdoor bath & shower
  • Betelnut Cafe on Jl. Batu Bolong 60, Canggu. They have happy, healthy, nutritious and delicious food
  • The Deus Ex Machina Temple of Enthusiasm which has also a restaurant. So you can check out customized motorcycles, surfboards and art together with a great lunch
  • Kakilima By The Sea, Jl. Pantai Batu Bolong, Canggu, for lazy Sunday afternoons
  • Revolver Espresso, Jl Kayu Aya / Gang 51 Seminyak for some great coffee
